A historical event in the world of sport took place in 1960 at the Tannzapfenland retirement centre in the canton of Thurgau. At the time, members of the “Dussnang - Oberwangen” gymnastics club were rehearsing a Rhönrad wheel routine for the evening entertainment.

During the rehearsal, they came up with the idea of forming an acrobatics group. And so five indefatigable gymnasts became the founder members of HERKULES, a group which has gone on to achieve massive success.

Over the decades, a constant stream of talented young gymnasts from the area have joined the group to keep it rejuvenated.

Even today, over fifty years after the creation of the acrobatics group, the grandchild of one founder remains an active member of the group.
